Johnson Matthey Delivers Two Vpurge Systems To The Institute Of Electronic Materials Technology (ITME) In Poland

WEST CHESTER, PA, January 19, 2007 - Johnson Matthey Gas Purification Technology (GPT) group, a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of highly reliable bulk and point-of-use purifiers, announced today that they have supplied two HP-480 VPurge Systems to ITME in Warsaw, Poland. The Johnson Matthey systems will be used to purify hydrogen for epitaxial growth of n-type and p-type Silicon Carbide layers for high-power and high-frequency devices.

ITME (www.itme.edu.pl and www.epi-lab.com) is a research, development and consultancy institution offering a unique combination of scientific and technological capabilities. The two principal activities of ITME are -- research, development and production of electronic materials and research and development of electronic components based on these materials. ITME was founded in 1979 by merging the research laboratory of the Electronic Materials Research and Production Centre as a separate organization -- it is now the leading centre devoted to electronic materials in Poland.

Dr. Wlodek Strupinski, Director of the Semiconductor Compounds Epitaxy Laboratory at ITME said, “ Johnson Matthey’s hydrogen purifiers are capable of providing 99.9999999 percent pure hydrogen for Silicon Carbide Reactors. That coupled with JM’s extensive knowledge and experience in palladium membrane technology made them the purifier of choice for ITME*in fact, we have been using JM purifiers since 1980, due to their quality and reliability.”

Johnson Matthey’s VPurge system is an innovative product for rapid and complete purging of hydrogen from palladium (Pd) membrane purifiers. The patented VPurge design ensures total hydrogen removal in the event of power outages and emergency shutdowns. The system was designed specifically to meet the needs of today's largest MOCVD production platforms. Palladium purifiers provide the highest purity of hydrogen and the VPurge ensures its' durability and performance in production environments.
